It is a modern martial art derived from the hand-to-hand combat techniques of the samurai in ancient Japan.<br><br>We train <em>aikikai aikido<\/em> as is is practiced in the <em>hombu dojo<\/em> Tokyo by, among others, the Ueshiba family, the descendants of the founder of aikido, Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969). We are affiliated with the hombu dojo because we are members of the Dutch Judo Association (JBN).<br><br>These teachers are our inspiration: Nobuyoshi Tamura sensei, Chris de Jongh sensei (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sjok.nl\">sjok.nl<\/a>), Seishiro Endo sensei (<a href=\"https:\/\/seishiro.info\/en\/\">seishiro.info<\/a>), Kanshu Sunadomari sensei and many more.<br><br>In order to practise aikido properly, we train strength, flexibility, endurance, speed and coordination. It is equally important for us to develop focus, inner strength and stability.
